Species Identification Manual

WondAR is an interactive mobile app designed to engage children (ages 6-12) in learning through Augmented Reality (AR). The app combines immersive storytelling with gamified learning experiences, allowing children to explore topics like science, history, and art through 3D visualizations and interactive elements. WondAR fosters curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking by making education fun and hands-on. With child-friendly navigation, customizable avatars, and educational mini-games, WondAR offers a safe, entertaining, and educational AR environment for young learners.

My Role: Information Designer

Media : Print Media

Industry: Public Sector

The Solution

The manual was divided into two categories: Flora and Fauna, with clear sub-sections for each.

High-quality images and scientific illustrations were used to provide visual clarity, reducing reliance on complex descriptions.

A user-friendly layout with colour-coded sections, quick reference tabs, and infographics was implemented for easy navigation.

The content was designed to be concise yet detailed, balancing scientific accuracy with practical usability.

Digital and print versions were made available, ensuring accessibility across different working conditions.

The design process involved continuous feedback loops with field scientists, ensuring the manual met their real-world needs.

Final Solution

Key Learnings

Visual Hierarchy Enhances Identification

User-Centric Design is Key – Direct feedback from field scientists shaped the manual’s format, readability, and accessibility.

Simplifying Scientific Data is a Skill

Turning dense research into digestible visual guides was a challenge but essential for usability.

Print vs. Digital Considerations

Scientists working in remote areas might not have internet access, so ensuring both print and digital usability was important.
